For this first unit, I've added a little reading ("Church Signing vs. ASL Interpreting") that my former ASL I students have already seen, but if you didn't take ASL I with me, it will be new to you.
UNIT SIXTEEN
Remember, this year will include two new grades for each unit. So in addition to the "Vocabulary Quizzes you have been responding to, you will also be sending me a video of yourself signing the assigned scripture into ASL.
Assignments for this unit:
* View the embedded YouTube video below to see the vocabulary for this unit.
* When you have completed the assignments above and feel pretty good about what you have learned, you can click on the embedded YouTube video below (54:25) . It is a discussion between Dr. Bill and one of his students. It is very clear. Even if you don't understand something he is saying, focus on the text on the screen behind him, and it will make sense. Also, I believe it is closed captioned.
* Practice the sentences near the bottom of the page.
* Watch and learn the Ephesians 6:1-2a video below. You will send me a video of this scripture at the end of the unit (or before if you want). Here is a link to the Deaf Bible, but the video of only Ephesians 6:1-2a is embedded below (and glossed).
* Review the CL:V video at the bottom of the page. We will start having a review of the different classifiers each unit, and although there won't be a direct test/quiz over them, they will appear in future videos/quiz sentences, so it's a good idea to study them.

Ephesians 6:1-2a
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother.
(This video is fast with some unfamiliar vocabulary, like SCROLL, STORY (says), HONOR, etc. So you may need to view it several times.
Also, the sign STORY as glossed here is actually a sign that looks like story, but means "says." This is how you say SAYS without using the other sign for SAYS that is close to the mouth, which indicates speaking. When referencing someone who is signing something [saying something], this is the sign you would use for SAYS.)
