Welcome Back!
From here on, our lessons will include the same content and format as previous units, BUT, there will also be additions along the way! So, for this unit we'll focus on ASL comprehension as well as new vocabulary and content!
Conversation comprehension:
Scroll to the bottom of the the page and find the YouTube video labeled:
ASL Classifier Story: A Cross Country Mishap.
We have studied classifiers previously, and this video does a great job incorporating MANY of them. What to do?
* Watch the video
* Jot down at least FIVE classifiers that you see, label what they are (CL:1, for example) and what they represent (runner) and how they are represented (lagging along).
* THEN, write an interpretation of what happens in this story! (You will submit these to your parents for a grade.)
New Vocabulary:
* View the embedded YouTube video below to see the vocabulary for this unit.
* When you have completed the assignment above and feel pretty good about what you have learned, you can click on the embedded YouTube video below (42:50) . It is a discussion between Dr. Bill and one of his students. It is very clear. Even if you don't understand something he is saying, focus on the text on the screen behind him, and it will make sense.
* Practice the sentences at the bottom of the page.
Scripture:
* We will continue our learning of Scripture, with the first semester devoted to the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5:1-12). It is a very valuable lesson that Jesus teaches, so I though it would be a good piece to know! We will take it in chunks, so no worries.
I wish that I had been more attentive to our Scripture learning last year, as I feel that the Sermon on the Mount is a very important piece of Scripture. With that, we will continue with the Sermon. Watch and learn the Scripture video below. You will send me a video of yourself signing this Scripture at the end of the unit (or before if you want). Here is a link to the Deaf Bible, but the video of only Matthew 5:5 is embedded below.
