Unit Twenty (a) Quiz
Watch the video below. There are 10 sentences. I would like you to interpret the sentences, and then list the classifiers you see in each. So, for example, you would write down:
(1.) The man blah blah blah. (CL:1; CL:5)
Some of the sentences contain signs that we haven't covered, so I'll go a little easier on the 'interpretation' part, but I would like to see that you can recognize the classifiers!
Possible new signs include:
ANCIENT (is simply OLD signed with both hands -- stacked)
EVERY
GROW
OFFICE
A-R-K (the sign for Arkansas)
HAPPEN
DEER
HAIR (pulled from head = 'just barely')
Possible new sign combinations / concepts include:
*KNOW-THAT
is a combination sign that is used to start a sentence or introduce a concept
*HAPPEN
is a sign that is used to introduce that something is about to happen (we wouldn't speak 'happen' in English before saying something happened, so it is not always 'voiced' or interpreted, but it used often in ASL)
*EVERY-TIME
is just what it looks like in English, but it is signed more quickly and close together in ASL
You can send the answers via email to [email protected]. Good luck!
